Privacy policy

What the BayFinder website collects, why, who sees it and what you can do about it.

Version 1.0 · Effective 25 October 2026

This policy covers the website at bayfinder.co.uk. The BayFinder app has its own privacy policy, which you can read inside the app before you use it.

1. Who is responsible for your data

BayFinder is responsible for the personal data described on this page.

For anything about your data, email support@bayfinder.co.uk.

2. The short version

  • We show no advertising and we do not sell your data.
  • Google Analytics runs only if you press Accept in the banner. Until then nothing is loaded from it and no cookies are set.
  • If you join the waitlist, we use your email to tell you when the app launches, and for nothing else.
  • The site's typefaces come from Google Fonts, so Google sees your IP address when a page loads.

3. What we collect, why, and on what basis

WhatWhyOur basisHow long
Waitlist: your email address, whether you use Android or iPhone, and the page you signed up on, which may name a city To email you once when the app launches, and to decide which cities and which phone to start with. Your consent, given when you send the form. Until we have sent the launch email, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
Analytics, only if you accept: pages visited, approximate location, device and browser type, how you arrived, and two cookies To see which pages are read and what to build first. Your consent. You can withdraw it at any time. Google Analytics keeps this for no longer than 14 months.
Hosting records: your IP address, the page requested, your browser type and the time, made automatically whenever a page is served To deliver the site, keep it secure and fix faults. Our legitimate interest in running a secure website. A short period, set by our hosting provider.
Fonts: your IP address, sent to Google when a page loads its typefaces To show the site as designed. Our legitimate interest in a readable site. Under Google's own policy.
Your choice about analytics, kept in your browser's local storage as bf-consent. It is never sent to us. To remember what you chose. It is needed to respect your choice. 180 days, then we ask again.

4. Cookies

Without your consent we set no cookies. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_LRK3ET382L, to tell visits apart. We switch off Google's advertising features and Google Signals.

To change your mind, use Cookie settings in the footer. Choosing No thanks stops analytics and removes those cookies.

5. Who we share data with

They handle data for us under their own terms. We do not sell personal data. We may disclose it where the law requires it, for example under a court order, to establish or defend legal claims, or to protect someone's safety.

6. International transfers

Some of these providers are based in, or process data in, the United States or other countries outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework) or on the International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum issued by the ICO, so that your data keeps an equivalent level of protection.

7. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • have inaccurate data corrected;
  • have your data erased, which for the waitlist means we delete your sign-up;
  • restrict or object to how we use it, including use based on legitimate interests;
  • receive your data in a portable, machine-readable form;
  • withdraw consent at any time, without affecting what was done before.

To use any of them, email support@bayfinder.co.uk. We will reply within one month, and may need to confirm your identity first.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office: ico.org.uk, or 0303 123 1113. We would appreciate the chance to deal with your concern first.

8. Security

Pages and form submissions travel over an encrypted connection. Waitlist sign-ups arrive in a private mailbox. No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that data will never be accessed without permission.

9. Children

This website is for drivers and is not aimed at children. If you believe a child has given us an email address, write to us and we will delete it.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The version and effective date are at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use your data in a significant way, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
